That Could Be A Fieldtrip

Here is a list of really cool events or places that would make a great fieldtrip.  Most will be in reasonable distances from the Chattanooga area, although, some extra cool ones could also be added even if they are a little farther away.

Girl with a Pearl Earring

High Museum of Art in Atlanta has frequent homeschool days.  Right now THEY HAVE GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING BY VERMEER!!  Do you really want to miss that?  She’s there until September 29th, but there is a homeschool day on the 20th.  There are many excellent pieces in this exhibit which would be fantastic on their own.  See the link for details.

Tunnel Hill Heritage Center Museum, W & A Railroad Tunnel, and Clisby Austin House in Tunnel Hill GA have their annual reenactment the weekend after Labor Day.

Battle of Chickamauga 150th reenactment is September 20-23.  Details here.  The Chickamauga Battlefield Park is always a great field trip.

The Appalachian Celtic Festival and Ringgold Highland Games will be September 21st.  This is really fun for kids.

Stone Mountain Highland Games is awesome!  The best part about going for us was camping there too.  Everyone decorates their campsites with Scottish flair.  So fun!  They also have an excellent children’s area and fantastic music.

The John Ross House in Rossville, GA. Home of the Cherokee Chief.
